Hello one and all! This is 'Nando once again. A few weeks ago I wrote an entry in which I emptied my mind of all my thoughts and feelings that collected over the summer, in preparation of my freshmen year at UC Irvine. And now, I am at UC Irvine, and boy it's crazy as fuck!!! I myself am not much of a party-person. However, I have been enjoying the interactions with all my fellow Jardin residents (Jardin is the dorm I live in within Mesa Court), whether all of us get together and talk, or watch someone completely wasted dance and tell stories for us. So far, I've cruised with some of the guys to Target, participated in a dodgeball tournament, introduced the hall to my wooden hand, and mingled with many of the fellas and the ladies.
As for the school itself, it is very nice and HUGE! I've gotten lost a few times, both on campus and at the University Center (where all the shops are at). I've seen lots of rabbits as well. Their presence is very obvious, with all the pellet-like things by the grass (guess what it is). These are things that a little walkin' gives ya. At first I thought of bringing my bike down here to get to places faster, but I kinda like the walking now. It'll help me avoid the "freshmen fifteen," as eating a lot at Jack in the Box and the Mesa Commons could make me a little stout.
My classes, at this time, are pretty good. The teachers don't seem to be too anal, but have enough discipline to teach me a thing or two. I still have to check my Social Science 1A class on Monday, but it shouldn't be too bad. I'm already getting homework to do. Isn't that nice...
All in all, this place is pretty good. However I do miss my family and friends. The brights side though is that I can come home for the weekends (as long as I call before-hand and not at the last minute). I'm also keeping it touch with some of my friends through AIM and facebook. I'm also very glad that someone other than my family members calls me directly on the phone. Nice to hear a friend's voice. She's great! Well... I think that'll do for now. I've got work to do. This is Fernando "Emit" Garcia telling you "das real"!!!
