Dream

Today after breakfast, I headed back to my dormroom and took a small nap. However, this nap was different, as I actually had a dream. I guess, in a sense, it was a sleep. And it wasn't just any ho-hum dream. This one felt so real that it I wish it was a reality. It took place here in UCI, and I was visited by lovely and familiar woman. It was a beautiful day, one that I have yet to really experience in real life. It felt like the hours were flying by with her company, just chillin', talkin', and embracing. Even my famliy appeared had a cameo, for some reason (my dreams always have a hint of randomness, like my duck dream a few years back) . Unfortunately, I was woken from his 1 1/2 hour fantasy by the sound of my alarm. It was such a bummer, as it was one of the most wonderful dreams I've had in years. But the more I contemplated this dream, the more I realized that it would never be a reality. I've been trying really hard to get over this steep hill, only to find that my subconscious is being fuckin' stubborn. Not much of a surprise though. It's me we're talking about.

This has been a line of a number of realistic dreams, most of them dealing with the loss of hair. Hmmm... I wonder what means? Anyway, this dream was exactly what it was: a dream, a dream that I've had consciously for some time. However, all it's really doing is making things harder for me. Kinda wish I had those damn hairloss dreams. So I guess you can say it's bitter sweet.

Arbitrary Observations

There is a wrestling colunm that I read every now and then on lordsofpain.net called the Nosebleed Section, where columnist, "Random Guy #5," states his view on a number of topics in a section called "Arbitrary Observations." It's one of my favorite parts of his column, so I decided that any of my entries that has a number of topics shall be named as such. Well anyway, let the blog commence...

Raw is Jericho...again!!!
A few months ago I did a heart-felt entry called "From Beginning to End," where I gave my thoughts about everything dear to me as I neared UCI's Welcome Week. In it, I made the comment that my interest in wrestling was fading, and maybe the return of Chris Jericho may save it. It was not just some random thing to say, as I heard rumors that Y2J was returning to the 'E. And just two weeks ago, after months of "Save_Us.222" promos, Jericho returned to Raw to much of the world's delight!!! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to catch him on TV yet as I've been quite busy as of late, especially with finals around the corner. But it's nothing that youtube or dailymotion can't help. Right now wrestling is getting good, so I will stay tuned as best as possible.

Turkey-Day Break
My Thanksgiving break was, for the most part, pretty good. It started on the right foot with Thanksgiving itself. Nothing is better to me than being with family, having a great dinner, and enjoying the company of others. Howver, it kinda went sour the next day. I was supposed to go out with Nestor, Alex, "Rick", among others. It was supposed a good ol' reunion with the boys of Lincoln. Unfortunately, many of the guys were busy with family and Black Friday that it had to be pushed back to Winter Break. Sucks that it went down like that, but I understood the situation. So I was gonna take it as a day to just kick back and relax. However, while I was playing some classic Mega-Man X, Jennifer Lew IM'ed me to have a little get-together with some other decathletes. At first I was kinda stoked to get to see her again, as I was unable to see her on her last day in LA back in August. On the way to Dino's, which was the meeting place, I ran into her and her brother. As I did with everyone else that I ran into from Lincoln, I went in for a hug, which I did not get... not even as much as a high-five. That hurt... a lot. When we got there, I realized it was a meeting that was majorily made up of older decathletes, those that were on the team before my two years. The only one that was there from my tenure was Francis. It was quite an akward outing for me and Francis, to say the least. Although I was glad to hang out with Francis, the outing was somewhat of a bust for me, as didn't feel much of the love from Jen. Got me to thinking, but that's another topic for another time. Saturday was MUCH better, as I got together with Wendy, Alfred, Elias, Jonathan, and... Rosalia!!! Got a nice embrace from her, too. That day consisted of walking around Pasadena, watching Hitman the movie (pretty good movie), and lots of goofiness. However I had to cut the evening short as my grandpa was returning to El Salvador. Rosalia needed to depart as well, as she too had other plans. I was happy that she decided to go with me to Jack in the Box to eat, as that was our only viable option before returning home. Sucks that we missed ice-skating with the rest of the gang. Then my fam and I were off to drop off my grandpa at the airport. I know it was hard for my mom, so I was there to give her a hug. Then on sunday I packed up and returned to UCI, not coming back 'til Winter Break.

Business Time!
College is getting harder and harder. Only two weeks from finals, and the pressure is on! Sociology and cal are a total bitch!!! Not doing so hot in those classes, so I REALLY need to step it up if I want, at the most, a B. but Social Science is "gravy"; nothing to worry about. And on top of that, registration for classes is a few days away. Fortunately, my window opens on the 30th, so I got an edge over other students in getting the ideal schedule. No morning classes for me!!! I also don't want classes with huge waiting intervals. So far, I'm planning to take Writing 39B, Math 2B, and Soc Sci 3A. Still need another class though. Maybe Chicano Studies? It kinda sucks for my roommate Gessie who no longer has the luxury of a free Tuesday and Thursday, as Writing screwed him over big time. Well, as my motto goes... "Shit happens."

...Well I think that'll do it for my first edition of "Arbitrary Observations." Hope the two people that read my blog enjoyed it. Gotta make sure that the next edition has more topics and one not so huge as my thanksgiving break. Until next time, this is Fernando "Emit" Garcia signing off. Peace, bitches! =P

Veteran's Day Weekend

Veteran's Day, a day to celebrate our brave soldiers of the past and present who give their lives to protect the freedoms we often take for granted. And what better way to celebrate these brave men and women than with a great three-day weekend!!!

I'm happy to say that my Vet's Day weekend was a pretty damn good one, to say the least. It started Friday evening where my sister Janet was nice enough to give me a ride back to Los Angeles. Sad to say it was a very long drive, as we were caught in rush hour, so it took about 2 hours to return rather than the average 45 minutes. But there was a light at the end of the tunnel. I was welcomed back with open arms, and carne asada! Such a good way to break the cycle of tiresome Mesa Commons food. I was alos able to catch up on some sleep, something that I've been kinda lacking at UCI. However, the weirdest about sleeping at home over the weekend was my dog, who sat by my side with those big brown of eyes. It's like she wanted me go to sleep when I was staying up, or maybe worried about the little cough I've had for about a week. It was both cute and weird at the same time.

Well, I spent Saturday hanging out with some old friends of mine, whoI've not seen in quite some time: Alfred Isais, Jonathan, Cruz, Elias Solano, and Wendy Montoya. What kinda sucked was waiting at the Gold Line for about an hour for Elias, who's always late (bastard decided to get a haircut before meeting up). I also had a chance to talk with Daniel Hernandez on the phone (I'm going to find him Thanksgiving break). Anyway, we spent the first half of the day in Pasadena. We ate at Islands, got to see some artwork on display, and took some interesting pictures. Then we took the Gold Line all the way to Union Station, exploring the place from the inside to out. From there we explored downtown LA, from the Walt Disney Concert Hall to the Staples Center. It was an all-day outing and it was fuckin' awesome.

Sunday was more chill. I just kicked back in my bed, did a little work, played a little Melee, and hung out with the family. Never changed out of my basketball shorts (which I wear when I sleep).

Monday was another good outing with the homies Elias, Alfred, and Jonathan. But this time Luis Gonzalez showed his damn face, making the outing all the more better!!! We went to the park behind the $.99 Cent Store and played a little basketball. What more can a guy ask for? We also took some sweet pictures of the occasion. By 1pm we all went our seperate ways once again. I'm glad I got to see them once again, and I'm sure more opportunities will present themselves to do it again, but with the whole gang this time, including Heidi, Brenda, Sifredo, and Daniel. Anyway, I spent the remainder of the day hanging out in my house, watching whatever of the Academic Decathlon that was present at my house study. Good to see Louise and Elizabeth staying with it, unlike fuckin' Francis. Watched Blades of Glory, played more Melee, at ate to my heart's content. By 9:30, my uncle Luis was ready to take me back to UCI. I said my goodbyes, borrowed a camera, and was on my way.

So there went my three-day weekend. It went better than I expected, and I'm happy with it. Well, 'til next time, which should be around my Thanksgiving break! Hope all of you had a nice Veteran's Day weekend. Peace, bitches!!!
